Theopria Leatherwood's Obituary
Theopria Leatherwood, 74, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, at his residence in Smiths Station, Alabama. Theopria was born in Toney, Alabama. He graduated from Riverside High School class of 1968. He served and retired from the United States Army. He achieved the rank of SSGT and did two tours in Desert Storm. He worked at Pearl Vision, Lens Crafters, and Eye Ear Optical as an eyeglass technician. He attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Motts, Alabama. Theopria preceded in death his mother, Ella D. Leatherwood; father, Ross Leatherwood; daughter, Regina Carol Leatherwood; sister, Ruby Blanks; sister-in-law, Sandra Leatherwood; great grandchild, Ja'Briel Davis. Theopria leaves behind his daughter, Lashanda Leatherwood(Ricky Sawyer) of Knoxville, TN; son, Reginald Leatherwood (Deztany Bishop) of Knoxville, TN; brother, Henry Earl Leatherwood of Smiths Station, AL; step-sons, Aganza Mathieu and Berma Mathieu of Knoxville, TN; 8 grandchildren, Remahjia Leatherwood, Regunique Leatherwood, Jamiya Styles, Jackea Daniels, Regge' Leatherwood, Reginal Leatherwood JR, ShaTavia Baker, Jamika Williams; 14 great grandchildren; his companion, Lawanda Morgan; her son and daughter, Antonio Morgan and Vetrika Morgan all of Smiths Station, AL; a host of nieces; nephew; other relatives and friends of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Smiths Station, Alabama. Theopria will lie-in-state on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
