Ruby Smith's Obituary
Ruby Lee Smith, 99, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, in a local healthcare facility. She was formerly a seamstress in the textile industry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Smith, I; son, Joseph D. Smith, II; daughters, Barbara Walker and Brenda Kincaid; father, Richard Thurman, Sr.; mother, Lillie B. Thurman; sisters, Magnolia Nesbitt, Sara Boyd, and Annie M. Hill.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Leslie Walker, Bryant Smith, and Andrea Moore, all of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Richard (Wanda) Thurman, Jr. of Chattanooga; a host of great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. in Highland Memorial Gardens with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. giving the words of comfort.
