I have so many wonderful memories of my Aunt Ruby that I can't fit them all here. The ones that stand out most were those late-night Pokeno games. Aunt Ruby, my grandmother and grandfather, would sit around Aunt Ruby's kitchen table playing until my grandfather won all of his pennies back. He never quit until he won; lots of late nights!
Aunt Ruby always took the time to listen and gave you real feedback. I spent an equal amount of time at Aunt Ruby's home as I did at my grandmother's home, as she and her two sisters shared the same block in North Philadelphia. This is how I learned the value of sibling love. As I grew up, I watched them, always together, supporting one another.
I am so grateful for the time we had together, and I find comfort in knowing that Aunt Ruby spent her final years where she wanted to be—close to her brother, my Great Uncle June.
