Roosevelt Barkley, 90, of Chattanooga, began his heavenly journey on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in a local hospital. He was born November 22, 1934 in Huntsville, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Irene Vance Barkley; his sister, Nellie Barkley Tyson; and his wife, Amie Barkley. He leaves fond memories to daughter, Sonja Barkley of Philadelphia, PA; 3 grandchildren, Aaron Barkley, Ivery Barkley, Sr., and Shina Darby; 4 great-grandchildren, Chris, Nasheem, Ivery Jr., and Camryn Barkley; daughter, Roxanne Barkley of Philadelphia, PA; 2 grandchildren, Mayfield Powers and Cierra Reynolds; 3 great-grandchildren, Khasil Powers, Ceione Perry, and Ty’ikier Bowman; 2 great-great-grandchildren, True and Chosen Bowman; son, Demetrius Barkley of Chattanooga; son, Marcus (Monica) Woods of Hendersonville, TN; 2 grandchildren, Johnathan and Araina Woods; nieces, Barbara Ann Motley and Gail Walker; cousins, Judy Mae Vance, Octavia, Lena Willie Mae, and Linda; special friend, Anita Lockhart; and a host of other family and friends. Roosevelt will lie-in-state on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. as the Eulogist. Entombment in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
