I am very grateful for the life of my Aunt Tennie. As I reflect back upon my adolescent years, I remember her allowing me to spend many fun nights and weekends at her home. She would even let me drive her car when I became a teenager. More importantly, in 1995, she lovingly and willfully helped me organize our 1996 Gary Family Reunion for many, many family members. She provided me with numerous contact names, addresses, and phone numbers for reaching out to distant relatives to ensure the reunion was successful. I will never forget how she unselfishly provided me pertinent genealogically information to help me learn about my family roots whom were located in various parts of the country. Also, during her illness, she would call Ann and I to see if we were doing okay, especially as we traveled. I’m forever appreciative for Aunt Tennie’s thoughtful and kind spirit as a family member who actually cared.
