I’ve not said much on here, but I’m so heartbroken over this. Although I know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, and I know where my Auntie is because she loved the Lord and lived a life that reflected that, it still hurts nevertheless.
My Auntie, man…
She was loving, kind, and wise. I can remember my childhood so vividly, and she was a major part of it. Those core memories that never fade — the memories embedded in my mind forever. The memories I tap into when I need to laugh, smile, or simply feel.
I remember when she was a substitute teacher at my schools, Piney Woods and East Lake Elementary. Whenever I would act up and get sent to the principal’s office, Mrs. Lovelady would say, “I’m going to go get your Aunt on you.” I know she probably got tired of straightening me out at school.
I remember the time we spent at the Girls Club. I loved those volleyball tournaments. I remember just spending time together as a family. She had such a big heart.
I will never forget the words of encouragement and wisdom you’ve given me over the years. Thank you for loving me the way you did.
