Ladies and gentlemen, friends, family, and neighbors,
We gather here today with hearts full of gratitude and sorrow to celebrate the life of a remarkable man: Henry Moore. Though I didn't have the privilege of knowing him deeply, it was clear from the very beginning that he was the heart and soul of this neighborhood. When I first moved here, it was Henry who crossed the street with a warm handshake and a genuine smile to welcome me. That simple gesture spoke volumes about the kind of man he was — kind, generous, and deeply connected to those around him.
It didn’t take long to notice how beloved Henry was. You couldn’t pass by his house without seeing neighbors stopping by for a friendly chat or hearing a cheerful honk from a passing car, followed by a wave and a joyful greeting from Henry and his wonderful wife, Lucille, who always shared their porch with the community. Henry had a sparkle in his eyes, a smile on his face, and a warmth that lifted the spirits of everyone he encountered.
Henry was, quite simply, a fixture of Avondale — a familiar and comforting presence who made this corner of the world better just by being in it. His passing leaves a profound void, but his memory will forever remain a cherished blessing for all of us who were fortunate enough to know him.
As we come together to honor his life, may we find comfort in knowing that Henry’s spirit lives on — in the laughter of his friends, the strength of his family, and the countless lives he touched. We pray that God grants peace and strength to Lucille, his family, and all of us who mourn his passing. And as we remember him, may we carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and community.
Rest well, Henry — you’ve earned your place in Heaven....
......and for the brief time I had the privilege of knowing you, and your beautiful, kind family.... just Thank You for being you!!
