Georgetta Hughes' Obituary
Georgetta Hughes, 76, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in a local hospital. She was employed by G.P.S. for 42 years. She was a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Georgetta was preceded in death by her father, George Griffis; mother, Ella Brooks; grandparents, Charlie and Mattie Malone; brothers, Jerome Griffis and Johnny Griffis; and sister, Maggie Griffis. Survivors include her son, Kenneth W. (Mary) Hughes; daughters, Dimeta E. (Vincent) Galloway and Catreece W. Butts, all of Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; nephews, Barry Griffis and Langdon Strickland, both of Tampa, FL; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends. Georgetta will lie-in-state on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 9-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. There will be no service.
