Franklin D. R. Robinson's Obituary
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Robinson, age 92, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025, at his home after a brief illness.
Born in Courtland, Alabama, he was the eldest of seven children born to the late Sol and Laura Robinson. Franklin honorably served as a veteran of the United States Army and later attended Cleveland State Community College. He dedicated his career as a police officer to both the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department under H. Q. Evatt, and the Tennessee Valley Authority where he retired. He was a member of the former St. Ruth Primitive Baptist Church.
Franklin married the love of his life, Billie Jo Flurry, with whom he shared one son, Freddie Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sol and Laura Robinson; his wife, Billie Jo Robinson; brothers, Sol Robinson, Jr., Mac Arthur Robinson, and Herana Robinson, Sr.; sister, Annie Robinson.
As the Robinson family patriarch, “Roosevelt” is survived by his son, Freddie Robinson of Chattanooga; two granddaughters, LaShonda and Shirodka Robinson, both of Chattanooga; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; beloved sisters, Gradie Carter of Chattanooga, and JoAnn Robinson of Batesville, AR; sister-in-law, Phyllis Robinson of Chattanooga; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mr. Robinson will lie-in-state on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel with his son, Freddie Robinson as the Eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
