Edith Williams' Obituary
Edith Swain Williams, 70 of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed November 23, 2025, in the care of Hospice. She was born to her late parents, Clarence Swain Sr. and Mary Nell Justice on July 9, 1955. Edith was the youngest of 8 children and a twin. She graduated from Anderson High School. She worked for the city of Chattanooga in Parks and Recreation at Coolidge Park. She was a member of Thankful Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an Usher, Youth Counselor, and was on the Kitchen Committee.
She was also a service member in the Navy Reserves and the National Guard. She attended cosmetology school, where she enjoyed doing hair. Edith was also a Model in various fashions shows and she had her own love for fashion. Edith loved and cared for her friends and family like no other, especially her daughter Shay Shay.
Edith was preceded in death by her grandparents, Reverend Claude and Inez Copeland, parents, Clarence (Gladys) Swain Sr. and Mary Nell Justice; brothers, Fredrick Swain, Edward Swain, and Douglas Corbin; sister, Theresa Pat Shumaker; niece, Toniya Corbin; nephew, Marcus Arnold Sr.; uncles, Willis Swain and Charles Swain; aunts, Rosa Bell Swain and Augusta Swain.
She leaves to cherish her memory through her one and only daughter, Metrri LaShay Williams of Chattanooga, TN; sons, Kendrick (Janelle) Ray of Ringgold, GA., Pierce (Christy) Green Sr. of South Pittsburgh, TN; brothers, Clarence Swain Jr., Seabron (Mickey) Battle of Chattanooga, TN; sister, Bertha (Brian) McKinny-Carter of South Carolina; a host of other relatives and friends. Most remember Edith for her slim stature and her outspoken personality. She will be deeply missed.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church.
