Charles Elvert Hinton's Obituary
Charles Elvert Hinton, 61, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023, in an Anchorage, Alaska facility. He was born February 20, 1962, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Charles was the son of the late Charlie Franklin and Annie Elizabeth Brown. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and had a servant heart for those lives that he touched. Charles graduated from Kirkman Technical High School and later attended Chattanooga State Community College. He maintained his Collection, Distribution, and Water Treatment licensures. He began his career with the Federal Government, joining the Air Force in February 1992, at the age of 20. He completed 6 years in the military with an Honorable discharge and continued working 31 civilian years Environmental Field mostly in Water and Wastewater Treatment. The last few years he worked and lived in Washington State; Grand Canyon, Arizona; and Alaska. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Franklin and Annie Elizabeth Brown; grandparents, Howard Slaughter and Gladys Goree Simpson; uncle, Thomas Jerome Simpson; aunts, Alice M. Carroll and Emma Long. He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Chantalle D. Hinton; one brother and sister, Anthony James (Laura) Hinton and Evelyn Teresa Hinton Boyd; three nieces, Tyshera Evelyn Hinton, Romitchus Renee Hinton, and Mary Elizabeth Hinton; two nephews, Anthony James Hinton Jr. and Lamont Charles Boyd; two uncles, Rueben (Michelle) Simpson and Darryl Willingham Simpson; and six aunts, Ellen Johnson, Yvonne Daniels, Linda Slayton Lindsey, Patricia Robinson (Samuel Coleman), Evelina Bush (Reginald Knight), and Louvina Smith (Roy Hinton); two God daughters, Brittany Russell and Brooklyn Allison; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. Charles will lie-in-state on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
