Angie and I were two peas in a pod on Cherrywood. Since she was the only other girl in the neighborhood, we became fast friends. You rarely saw one of us without the other. Most of my fond childhood memories are with Angie. She had an internal clock that told her when we were sitting down to eat dinner! We’d walk to the corner store or ride bikes downtown for ice cream. She could quote The Color Purple word for word after watching it with me during the hot summers when we didn’t want to be outside. She proudly chauffeured me around in her 86 Cavalier and I was excited when I got a blue one like hers. As we often do as adults, we spoke less and less over the years. However, her place as a special person to me never diminished. It hurts my heart for her family that God was ready to have her back, but I’m thankful that he chose me to be her friend for so many years. I’m praying for the comfort and peace of her family, especially her sons.
