Mr. Zachary James Scruggs' Obituary
Zachary Scruggs, 66, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in a local healthcare facility. Mr. Zachary Scruggs was born November 1, 1958, in Chattanooga, TN, to Willie James Scruggs (Bobby Bates) and Diane Hardy. He was educated in the Chattanooga School system and was a student at Howard High School, where he participated in various school activities and made many lifelong friends. He was a member of Rock of Salvation Church, where he was an honorary deacon. Zachary had various employment ventures. He was a Supervisor at Standard Coosa Thatcher, where he met his lifelong partner, Janet Sales. He was also a counselor at Orange Grove, but his passion was for fixing broken things. Zachary was the founder of Scruggs Home Improvement, where he worked diligently in the City of Chattanooga as a carpenter.
Among those who preceded Zachary in death included his mother, Diane Myree; father, Willie James Scruggs (Bobby Bates); lifelong partner, Janet Sales; sister, Michelle Myree; aunt, Lizzie Kate Tillman. Zachary passed away on May 13, 2025, at Standifer Place under Adoration Hospice Care. Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Jasmine (Robert) Clark; grandchildren, Alex Stone and Riyah Clark, of Chattanooga; sisters, Lizzie Scruggs, of Philadelphia, PA, Annette Moore, of Tallassee, AL, and Sabrina Scruggs and Jacqueline (Jackie) Myree, both of Chattanooga; brothers, Clarence Myree and Leonard (Lebron) Myree, both of Chattanooga; aunt, Sabrina Cranford, of Cleveland, OH; nieces and nephews, Terry Scruggs, Paulette Scruggs, Maurico Sanders, Martresa Scruggs (Martrel Usher), MarKiesha Sanders, Maurice Sanders Jr., Ferris Witcher, Whitley Witcher, Chyna Myree-Dave, Diana Hampton of Atlanta Ga, Greg Hampton, William Daniel, Katoura Myree, Shakera Myree, Alexis Myree, Antwon Myree, Zachariah Myree, Tobias Myree, Jeffery Sparks, Laquandra Mcleod, Javonte Mcleod, Charles Scruggs, and Kentrel Usher; a host of relatives and friends.
Zachary will lie-in-state on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Apostle William McGee as the Eulogist.
