Willie James George's Obituary
Willie James George, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at his residence. He was a member of Greater Tucker Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board and sang in the Choir. Willie retired from Moccasin Bend and also worked for many years at the Signal Mountain Apple Orchard. Willie was often working on cars in his spare time and also enjoyed keeping his lawn cut and trimmed. We will forever remember him planting the seeds for the beautiful grass that is now growing in the front yard. He enjoyed watching baseball or attending his grandkids games. He loved driving home often to spend time with his parents and siblings and was always up for a road trip. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Adline Georg; siblings, McArthur, Lonnie, Anjilee, Gloria, and Mary. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Estella George; sons, Yolanda Terry of Chattanooga and Michael (Marsha Denise) Green of Dover, Delaware; daughters, Shannon (Renodus) Newman and Sharon Bryant, both of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren, Brandon Havis, Michael Alvin, Marcianna and Malia Green; Mario and Shane Smith, Christian (Audrey) Newman, Chandra McElroy and Clifford Bryant; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Smith; Gabriella McElroy and Journey Bryant; brothers, Ike George, Elijah George, both of Birmingham, AL, Robert (Ethel) George of Euclid, OH, Johnny George, and Wilbert George of Mobile, AL; sisters, Henrietta Walker of Birmingham, Katie Tabb of E. Cleveland, OH, Annie Webb of Euclid, OH, Edith George, Adeline Carroway, Lizzie Minter, and Carolyn Conners, all of Mobile, AL; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Pastor Gary Hathaway will be the eulogist.
