Willie Tyrone Benford's Obituary
WillieTyrone Benford, 75, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at his residence. Willie graduated from Howard High School class of 1968. He survived his country by joining the United States Army and fighting in the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie E. Benford, Jr. and Elizabeth (Jones) Benford; wife, Barbara J. Benford. Survivors include daughter, Mai E. Benford-Locklin of Chattanooga; god-daughter, Ruby (Michael) Ray of Chattanooga; three grandchildren, Transquil Jenkins, TaVisha Locklin, and Teidra Ballard; six great-grandchildren, JaMaion, JaQuil, Keyon, JaNari, Ronald, III, and JaVion; brothers, Richard L. Benford and James L. (Charotte) Benford; step-brother, Donald Slay, Jr.; step-sisters, Sherry Ward, Valerie Decree and Tasha Slay, all of Chattanooga; four nieces, TaMakia, Keyche, Janet, and Carla; special brother/friends, Rufus Stargell and Tiffany step-children, Theresa Hudgins and Charles (Virgina) Carethers. He will lie-in-state on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Elder G. M. Spotts as the eulogist.
