William Howard Strickland, Sr.'s Obituary
William Howard Strickland, Sr., 95, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 at his residence. He was a 1947 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Howard was a WWII veteran in the United States Army. He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church and later attended Allen Temple A.M.E. Church. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Addie Strickland, Sr.; his wife of 54 years, Rachel Strickland; brothers, Horace Jr., Ralph, Buddy, Bobby, and Sam Strickland. Survivors include his sons, William (Wanda) Strickland, Jr. of Chattanooga, Kevin (Sue) Strickland of Kissimmee, FL, Brian (Betty) Strickland of Chattanooga, and Darryl (Karen) Strickland of Philadelphia, PA; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Thaddeus (Lurene) Strickland of Lawnside, NJ; sister, Alice Strickland-Hightower of Chattanooga; sisters-in-law, Velma Jean Strickland, Rosetta Strickland, both of Chattanooga, and Laura Deville of Kansas City, KS; brothers-in-law, Napoleon White of Chattanooga, Peter White of Las Vegas, NV, and Paul Deville of Kansas City, KS; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; special friend, Betty Conley and other friends. Pastor Eva Settles will serve as the eulogist.
