Sending my love and condolences to the family

Peace be unto you. This is an additional note to the family of William Solomon Sanderfur and all of the family. I am grateful that my beloved brother Gerald Wilson Patton documented the unique circumstances of our First Cousin relationship.
Yes, we had some fun filled days growing up and as Gerald noted no one wanted to go home. When night approached the last person that went Hide and go Seek now never wanted to be found. Ba Brother got me my first real joy at the Wimberly Inn out on Brainerd Rd. when we both were in High School.
Although most of the guys that were employed were his friends, he still got his first cousin Carl Allen a job. He also taught me and schooled me on doing any job I had when I worked at the Wimberley Inn. I will always love my dearly departed cousin Ba Brother Sanderfur for his love and helping me along the way.
Uncle Saul my beloved Aunt Babe’s husband had a moving and hauling business and basically was self-employed when I was growing up. We all (Ba Brother Sanderfur, Ba Brother Patton, Carl Allen, Lloyd all worked for Uncle Sul at one time our another. It was hard work (Ba Brother Patton said man Uncle Saul’s worked us harder than on the Chain-gang) Meanwhile I learned more about the work ethic. But the greatest lesson I learned was that a man did not have to be allegedly literate and or an intellect to be a genius.
Uncle Saul was a genius in a “Black Man Working without a mule.” Uncle Saul also was a Visionary. He was always looking toward the future and was always open to developing some sort economic enterprise. However, most of these things did not really settle in my mind until I gained more maturity.
We love you Family Sanderfur. Therefore, we will never forget the Love we shared. Rest in Peace my beloved Ba Brother.
Peace and Love,
Cousin Carl Allen and all of my immediate family: Catherine Patton Cothran, Gerald Wilson Patton, Barbara Lynette Patton and Vanessa Dale Patton. Departed William (Ba Brother) Patton and Grace Lee Patton.
First Cousins
We called him Ba Brother Sanderfur to distinguish him from my brother who was also called Ba Brother. (First born males short for Baby Brother). We all grew up in Chattanooga his mother Ida Louise Patton Sanderfur and my father William Patton II were brother and sister.
My father called his sister babe so we called her Aunt Babe, she called my dad Billy so the Sanderfur’s called him Uncle Billy. Among my fondest childhood memories was when Uncle Sol his dad and Aunt Babe would load up the car and bring them for a visit, they the adults would talk and talk and we would hang out and have the best time.
No one wanted to leave. Ba Brother Sanderfur and my sister Grace were the same age and my brother Carl and Connie are the same age and Ervina (Baby sister) and my brother William (Ba Brother) were the same age. And can you believe Janice and I are the same age. How did they do that? The Patton siblings also include Catherine, Barbara and Vanessa and Sanderfurs Hattie Marie and Lloyd.
My heart is saddened at the loss of Ba Brother Sanderfur his passing a blow to our family. But the memories of our days growing up as cousins will never be forgotten. My wife Linda and I extend our most heartfelt condolences to Alma Jean, immediate family and to all my first cousins.
Love always. Gerald Wilson Patton
Your lost is our lost. Sandefur and Rivers were childhood friends and until there health failed, they would visit with each other every Friday reminiscing about the good old days. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time! The Rivers Family
