William C. Edwards' Obituary
Elder William Cecil Edwards was born July 4, 1938, in Florence, Alabama. William was affectionately known as “Will or Pop” by family and friends. A long-time resident of Hamilton County, Mr. Edwards retired from Park Ridge Valley after several years of employment.
He was a veteran of the Army and the Army Reserves. William served his country with great pride and dignity.
A faithful servant, William served as a Deacon, as a Pastor and Assistant Pastor and an Elder in the ministry. William loved his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. William enjoyed fishing and being in the House of God.
William is preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Edwards; and mother, Emma Shepherd; a brother, Rueben Thompson; two sisters, Ruth Mae Hawkins and Marion Delores Siner; two sons, Ernest Edwards and Ivan Edwards; and one daughter, Cynthia Edwards.
Cherishing his memories include his wife, Charlotta S. Edwards; two sons, Cedric Edwards, Maurice (Tabitha) Edwards, and Jamarion Edwards; four daughters, Danita (Tyree) Young, Sylvia (Terrance) Taylor, Hosanna and Kenya Edwards; three brothers, Rex Edwards, Timmie Summerhill, and James Reader; five sisters, Earline Johnson, Josephine (James) Jones, Christine (William) Smith, Katherine Scott, and Callie Bankston; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces; nephews; and friends. Special friend to William: Carlos Shackleford, brother-law; thank you for always being there for him. To his Pneuma Church Family: He enjoyed serving with you all!!!!
William will lie-in-state on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 10:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. There will be a Celebration of Life at Pneuma Church, 7345 Old Cleveland Pike, Chattanooga, TN 37421 at 12 :30 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026.
