William Cotton, Sr.'s Obituary
William Cotton, Sr., 75, of Chattanooga, transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, February 21, 2025, in a healthcare facility in Manchester, Tennessee. He was a God fearing, kind, and loving man with a heart of gold. William was a 1967 graduate of Riverside High School and retired from National Linen Service. He was attending and singing in the choir at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church until his health declined.
William was preceded in death by his parents, James and Zettie Mae Cotton; siblings, Billy Cotton, Bobby Cotton, Barbara A. Stockdale, and Geraldine Cotton.
He is survived by his siblings, Larry (Marilyn) Cotton, Sr. and Mary L. Cotton; Godbrother, Gerald Johnson; Godsister, Ardella Smith; two sons, William (Carmen) Cotton, Jr. and Dominick Cotton; several grandchildren; nieces, Vernetta F. Greene, Latrandra (James) Ballard, Angel (Rodney) Benford, Sr., and Deborah (Ardie, Jr.) Menifee; nephews, Rodney McCullough, Sr. and Larry Cotton, Jr.; several great-nieces; great-nephews; other relatives and family friends.
William will lie-in-state on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
