William T. Chalk, Jr.'s Obituary
William Thomas “Doug” Chalk, Jr., 78, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022, at his residence. He owned and operated his own lawn service. William was a member of Greater Love In Christ Ministry where he served on the Usher Board, Finance Committee, and served as the grounds keeper. He was also a member of the Southeastern Hammer Droppers C.B. Club. William was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Chalk, Sr. and Josie Bell Parks Chalk; siblings, Mary Frances Thompson, Jessie Chalk, Raymond Chalk, Willie Chalk, and Richard Chalk; child he reared, Larry Starling; several aunts and uncles. Survivors include his sons, William (Althea) Dixon of Jacksonville, FL and William F. (Sherry) Chalk of Chattanooga; daughters, Bernice Lightner of Charlotte, NC, Bernadette Chalk of Rock Hill, SC, and Patsy Chalk of Chattanooga; godson, Kelvin Hughes, Sr. of Rock Hill, SC; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Lawrence (Mildred) Parks; sister, Sara Ann Chalk, both of Rock Hill, SC; aunt, Alberta (Joseph) Carey of Woodbridge, VA; lifetime friend, Barbara Simpson; children reared, Eddie, Kathy, and Corey; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Pastor Sarah Lott is the eulogist.
