Wilbon Glover's Obituary
Wilbon “Bobby” Eugene Glover, 85, of Chattanooga, passed away, June 9, 2025, in a local healthcare facility. He was born on September 22, 1939, to Sandra Young Thomas. He was raised in Moultrie, Georgia by his great-grandparents, Mattie and Sherwin Jones. There, he received his early childhood education in Colquitt County School System.
At the young age of 18, he relocated to Hackensack, NJ, where he started a new life for himself. There, he met his former wife, Terrance Ann Patton Glover, and they were blessed with two beautiful children, Sheila and Anthony. Bobby was employed by the Hackensack Water Company (now United Water Company), where he served for 33 years.
Bobby would occasionally return to his hometown to visit family and join his friends and schoolmates from his Alma Mater Moultrie Negro High School for the RAM Round Up. Bobby was an all-around guy and was loved by many. If you knew him, you knew he loved to joke around and have fun. He was a sharp, clean dresser and always wanted the best of everything. He was a lover of music and loved to dance. Some of his favorite Artists were Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, and if you wanted to see him cut a rug, just play some James Brown, and them bowed legs and pigeon toes would go to work. Lol.
Later in life, Bobby accepted Christ as his personal savior and was a member Mt. Olive Baptist Church in New Jersey, where he was in the Male Chorus. Shortly after the passing of his son, Bobby decided to move back south so he would be closer to his daughter and grandkids. He moved to Douglasville, Georgia, where he became a member of New Mountain Top Baptist Church, where he was a part of the Missions Team and other Ministries. There, he met many new friends who became just like family. He loved hanging out with the ManCave, especially after Sunday service. They hung out and ate at different restaurants.
As his health started to take a turn, his great-nephew, Jeremiah, was there to assist and care for him in the absence of his daughter. He also had his faithful tribe who came and assisted him in many ways, especially bringing him lunch and dinner from his favorite restaurant, Golden Coral!! You all know who you are. As his health started to decline more, his daughter moved him to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he was able to be with his family. He had time to enjoy his last Birthday and Christmas with his daughter, son-in-law, grandkids, and the mother of his children. Family was what he always wanted. His family loved and cared for him until his final rest on June 9, 2025.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Young Thomas; son, Anthony Eugene Glover; and brother, Milton Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving daughter, Sheila (Justino) Varner of Chattanooga; brother, Harry Thomas Sr., of Paterson, NJ; grandchildren, TaVoris, T'yana, Brandi, Keya, Imari Jasmine, Justice, Nikia, and Jacobi; great-grandkids, Miyah. MaHari Christina, Ja'Kia, Akoni, Kolten, and Alley; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. A special Thank You to Terri Glover, who assisted in his care.
