Wadie Ely Suttles Jr.'s Obituary
Wadie Ely Suttles Jr., 74, was born September 19, 1949 in Chattanooga to the late Wadie Ely Suttles Sr. and Jessie Mae Suttles. He entered his eternal rest on Monday April 22, 2024 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by his wife and children. He attended schools in Chickamauga, GA and Hill High School in Lafayette, GA. From there Wadie enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. Wadie, also known as "Bay Bro," was a devoted husband of 22 years, as well as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He truly loved his family. Bay Bro was a man of many talents and interests who lived his life to the fullest. He loved sports, music, playing cards and the list goes on. He was a true testament of strength and a proud veteran. He will be remembered for his witty personality, being his truest self and letting people know he was not to be played with. Wadie was preceded in death by his father Wadie Ely Suttles Sr.; mother Jessie Mae Suttles; brothers Thomas Sparks and Labron Suttles; sisters LaViolet McReynolds and Maxine Cousin; Stepson Sean Ware Sr.; and granddaughter MiJerni Chippoletti Suttles. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Leona Suttles; sons Wadie (Alishea) Suttles III and Jermaine Suttles Sr.; daughter Starr (Eric) Cousin; Stepdaughter LaWanda (Clifford) Matthews; 12 grandchildren Marisha Suttles, Elijah Suttles, Arianna Cousin, Jermonie Suttles, Eric Cousin Jr., Xavier Cousin, Jermya Kelso, Jermaine Suttles Jr., Jahmari Suttles, August Suttles, Braylun and Braxton Matthews; 1 great grandchild Jakari Suttles; sister Patricia Emmons; Brother in law Willie White; sister in law Ethel Mae Walker; special loved ones Jesse (Joan) Houston and Larry Ballanger. Mr. Suttles will lie-in-state on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel, with Pastor Willie Hammonds as eulogist.
