Viola Denkins' Obituary
Viola Denkins, 79, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020 in an Indianapolis, Indiana hospital. She graduated from Central High School in Hayneville, Alabama. Later in life, she graduated from Martin University with a B.A. Degree in Psychology. Viola was formerly employed by Herff Jones for a few years. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Fall Creek Parkway Church of Christ in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Mary Frances Smith, Sr.; two sisters; two brothers; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and husband, Ervin E. Denkins, Jr. who called her “Baby Doll”. Survivors include children, Sharon Maye-Jordan, Henry Maye, II, both of Indianapolis, IN, Ervin (Debbie) Denkins, III of Louisville, KY, Dorothy (Willie) Young of Houston, TX, Barbara (Rudolph) Holmes of Gulfport, MS, Sharon (Ronald) Edd of Tulsa, OK, Anita (John, Sr.) Taylor of Chattanooga, TN, and Yvette (Jeff) Wilson of Columbia, TN; grandchildren, Zachary Jordan, Kennedy Maye, Henri Maye, Candace (Michael, Sr.) Robinson, Staci Rogers, Leigh Newbold, Malcolm (LaMia) Himes, III, Edward Himes, Sr., Michael (Simi) Ruth, Leslie Ruth, John (T'Keyah) Taylor, Jr., and Andrew (Della) Taylor; great-grandchildren, Michael, Jr., Leah, Mark, Rachel, Jayni, D'mitri, Isaiah, Jaydiss, Jaleia, Marley, Edward, Jr., Salona, Lauryn, Ava, Avery, Aaron, and Alayna; sisters, Mary Butler of Indianapolis, IN and Martha (Ken) Williams of Bronx, NY; brothers, Dan Smith of Mobile, AL, Abraham Smith of Indianapolis, IN, and Joseph Smith of Montgomery, AL; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends; brothers and sisters in Christ.
