Varnell Few's Obituary
Varnell P. Few was born on August 9, 1946, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She retired from Erlanger Hospital after 27 years. She was a computer technician and teacher. On June 15, 2026, a Monday morning, Varnell passed away peacefully at age 79.
Varnell was preceded in death by her husband Alphonso Few; parents, William McKinley Posley and Sallie Turney Posley; brothers, James, Eugene, McKinley, Jr., and Melvin; sisters, Mary, Mable, Lena, and Evelyn.
Varnell leaves to cherish her memories her son, Alphonso Few, Jr.; two grandsons, A.J. Few and Gabriel Few; sister, Elizabeth Posley; brother, Furman Posley of Chicago, IL; close nephews, Brian Posley, Jr. and Alexander Posley; niece, Aniya Posley; caregivers, Audrey Gail High, Ruth A. Auls, Linda Bailey, and Jackie Clemmons; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and other relatives and friends.
Varnell will lie-in-state on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Henry McClain as the eulogist. Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
