Tracy L. Jones' Obituary
Tracy Jones, 56, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, in a local hospital. He graduated from Howard High School in 1986. He was a member of Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church. Tracy was preceded in death by his daughter, Carmeisha Desha Jones; step-father, James Johnson; sister, Sonya Toney; grandmother, Jimmie Roberts; grandparents, Tommy and Veenie Mae Jones; uncle, Richard Benford; grandfather, Joe Nathan Cosper; and aunt, Joann Cosper; Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 40 years, Tonya Jones; daughters, Tynisha Jones and Lakita Jones, both of Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren, Tamia Perry, Tianna Perry, Trinity Jones, Deliah Vaughn, Al’Kareem Abdullah, Randall Davenport, Alakhi Abdullah, Aloni Abdullah, Alijah Abdullah, and Savannah Jones; father, Rufus (Pearlie Mae) Jones of Chattanooga; mother, Ruthie Johnson of Chattanooga; brothers, Stacy (Nita) Jones and Sequoia Toney, both of Chattanooga; sisters, Walita Smith (Cynthia), Tomika Mobley, LaWanda Mobley, Tonya Mobley, and Mary Ellison; mother-in-law, Nadine Varnell; sisters-in-law, Terry (John) Abernathy, Sharon Varnell, Rhonda Varnell, and Michelle Harris; brothers-in-law, Kevin Varnell, Gregory Varnell, Melvin (Lisa) Varnell, and Steve (Andrea) Varnell; best friend, Alonzo Burton; a host of cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Tracy will lie-in-state on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jerry L. Burse as Eulogist. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
