Tommy Bernard Wyatt's Obituary
Tommy Bernard Wyatt, 68, of Chattanooga, departed this earthly life on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in a local hospital. Son of Christopher and Rosie Wyatt Jr., Tommy was born on February 2, 1957. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.
Tommy was a graduate of Kirkman Technical High School (Class of 1975) and honorably served in the United States Army for six years, exemplifying his dedication to his country. Following his military service, Tommy worked at Mueller Company until retirement. Known for both his unwavering work ethic and loyal nature, Tommy brought friendship and integrity into all areas of his life.
Tommy was known for his vibrant spirit and zest for life. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones as a loving devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and great-great uncle. He found joy in barbecuing, spending time with loved ones, rooting for his favorite team the Tennessee Titans, and sharing laughter in his garage with close friends Kenny Gott, Johnny Williams, Emanuel (Chico) Martin, Larry Dandy, Kevin Fletcher, Joe Reed, Aaron Orr, Reginald Garrett, Melvin (Reese) Preston, Carlos Kirksey, Charles Ragland, Mitchell (Boony) Lewis, and Levan Gardner. Together, they embraced life's simple pleasures—playing dominoes, sparking lively conversations, and watching sports.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Rosie Wyatt Jr.; grandmothers, Jennie Larkin and Delores Hall, grandparents Christopher and Mattie Bell Wyatt Sr.; uncle, Cephas Darnell Wyatt; and great-nephew, Noah Sanders.
He leaves behind a legacy of love by his daughter, Tiffiany Craw; granddaughter, Jada Wyatt; and loving friend, Alma Jean Clay. Tommy shared a special bond with his siblings, for whom he had unique nicknames. Among those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Myra Kelley, and Brenda Wyatt Talley, both of Chattanooga, TN, Tina (Gary) Hall of Antioch, TN, Jennie (Walter) Scruggs of Covington, GA, Debra (Lavon) Hines, and Valerie Swanson, both of Chattanooga; his surviving brothers, Danny Wyatt of Rochester, NY, Ivory (Martha) Hammond of San Francisco, CA, and Arlandis Roberson Jr. of Chattanooga; also mourn his loss. He is fondly remembered by aunts, Ella Dezora Wyatt Rhynes, Mary Roberson, both of Chattanooga, and Elma Benson of Covington, GA. He leaves behind his devoted nieces and nephews aka “Dawg Pound” (Michelle Sanders, Brenda Johnson, Nickesha Tatum, Gary Kelley Jr., Willie Thompson Jr., Ashleigh Timmons, Johnathan McDonald, Christa Hall, and Aleisha Hines), 12 great-nieces and nephews, great-great-niece and nephew, extended family members, Brian Clay, Bretha Marshall, Michelle Clay, Brittany Clay, Kawana Clay, Kendrea Clay, Camille Careathers, Lacretia Careathers, Alicia Ellison; and 20 great-grandchildren, all of Chattanooga. He will especially be missed by his favorite cousins, Adolph Wyatt, Curtis Wyatt Jr., Reginald Wyatt Sr., Bernadine Wyatt Turner, and Gale Wyatt Williams. Also, a host of cousins and dear friends.
Rest in peace, dear Tommy. Your love, laughter, and unshakable spirit will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
Tommy will lie-in-state on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 12 noon in the chapel with Pastor Willie Thompson, Jr. as the Eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
