Thomas McConnell's Obituary
Thomas George McConnell, 83, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at his residence. He was a veteran of United States Army. Thomas was a certified mechanic. He was a member of Eastdale Village United Methodist Church. Thomas retired from U.S. Pipe and Foundry after many years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Mary E. McConnell; brothers, Sanford Eugene McConnell, Kenneth G. McConnell, and Robert E. McConnell; and sister, Rose Sanford. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Elaine Ramsey McConnell; daughters, Trawana (William) Ervin, Tiffany (Greg) Douglas, Tiara (Michael) McCullough, and Sparkle Johnson-McConnell; 2 adult grandchildren, Diamond Bowens, Deonta Jackson, and 5 other grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, William (Gwendolyn) McConnell; sisters-in-love, Elizabeth McConnell, Wanda McConnell, Geraldine McConnell, Josephine Kinnaman, and Myra Womble; brother-in-love, Johnny (Maxine) Brown; special friend, “Tee”; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Thomas will lie-in-state on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor William B. Ervin as the eulogist. Burial on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
