Theresa B. Hart's Obituary
Ms. Theresa B. “Rita” Hart, age 75, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, peacefully departed this life on June 16, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of those whose lives she touched so deeply.
Born on March 30, 1951, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Theresa was the beloved daughter of Helen L. Hart and William Y. Hart. She was a proud graduate of Riverside High School, Class of 1970, and later furthered her education by earning an Associate Degree from McKenzie College in Office Work and Secretarial Administration.
Theresa was a woman of faith, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She accepted the Lord as her Savior and was a faithful member of Orchard Park Seventh-day Adventist Church. Her faith guided her throughout her life and served as the foundation upon which she built her character, relationships, and service to others.
Throughout her professional career, Theresa was known for her dedication, diligence, and strong work ethic. She spent many years as a skilled seamstress with Eaves Formal Wear, where her attention to detail and craftsmanship were admired by many. She also devoted several years to serving her community as a substitute teacher, helping to guide and encourage young minds. Most recently, she retired from Baylor School, where she faithfully served in the housekeeping department and was respected for her commitment and kindness.
Above all else, Theresa treasured her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her two children, Keith A. West and Queita Davis, both of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Kylie E. Davis, Amari James Keith West, Tray Smith, Skyler Western, and Cheyanne Jones. She loved each of them dearly and took immense pride in watching them grow and flourish.
Theresa found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved music, had a passion for beautiful clothing, and found comfort and guidance in reading her Bible. Whether sharing wisdom, offering encouragement, or simply spending time with loved ones, she made everyone around her feel valued and loved.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Helen L. Hart and William Y. Hart; her siblings, Edna L. Dowdy, James Y. Hart, Sr., Shirley Ann Hart, and Kathye Pittman.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Keith A. West and Queita Davis; her beloved grandchildren, Kylie E. Davis, Amari James Keith West, Tray Smith, Skyler Western, and Cheyanne Jones; her loving sister, Elaine Byrd of Chattanooga, Tennessee; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, dear friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by her kindness, faith, and unwavering love.
Those who knew Theresa will remember her gentle spirit, warm heart, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family. Her life was a testament to perseverance, compassion, and grace. Though her physical presence will be greatly missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

As we celebrate the life of Ms. Theresa B. “Rita” Hart, we give thanks for the years she shared with us, the lessons she taught through her example, and the love she freely gave. While our hearts mourn her passing, we rejoice in the assurance that she rests peacefully in the care of her Savior.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory forever be a blessing.
Theresa will lie-in-state on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. in the chapel. Burial in Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.
