Theodore Terry's Obituary
Theodore Terry “Terry”, 80, of Chattanooga, departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 15, 2024, in the Hospice Care Center. He was born to Doris Terry on June 22, 1944, at 8 a.m. in Molena, Pike County, Georgia. Terry was employed by Wheland Foundry for a little less than 30 years. He was a faithful and devoted member of the Miracle Missionary Baptist Church. He became a deacon under the late Pastor Horace Scruggs and continued to serve until his health started declining. He also served on the Finance Committee, Deacon Ministry, and sang in the Male Chorus. Terry volunteered at the American Thrift Store. He was also on the Full Board of Representatives for the Chattanooga Foundation, also known as the Community Kitchen. Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Oakey Lee Terry; mother, Doris Terry Leftwich; and sister, Vickey Strickland. He leaves to cherish his memories to his four daughters, Andrine Williams of Chattanooga, Janice Anderson, Doris Terry, and Angie Terry, all of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert L. (Deborah) Leftwich, Jr. of Bakewell, TN, Dennis (Veronica) Leftwich, and Victor Leftwich, both of Chattanooga; two sisters, Arlene Williams of South Carolina and Mary Patillo of Chattanooga; aunt, Geraldine Burden of Concord, GA; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Terry was a gentle soul. He did not like to argue. Terry will truly be missed. He will lie-in-state on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Miracle Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church with Pastor Randy L. Jacks as the Eulogist. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
