Terry Carl Carr's Obituary
Terry Carl Carr was born to the late Earl Carr Sr. and Katharine Carr on January 30, 1941, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He received Christ at an early age and has been an active member at Christ the King Baptist Church. Terry received his secondary education and later joined the United States Army. After completing his military obligation, he later joined the Tennessee National Guard, serving in the 1st Battalion, 181st Field Artillery Unit as a recruiter for the state. Terry joined the Chattanooga police force, where he received several certificates and was promoted to police detective. He also received his certification from the National Rifle Association of America for police marksmanship. Terry was very committed to public service in his community. He had such passion for inspiring the youth, that he started a nonprofit organization with programs for mentoring At-Risk Youths. Family meant everything to Terry, and he enjoyed passing his life knowledge and experiences to his grandchildren, godchildren, nephews, and nieces. In fact, his key focus was sharing the importance of education and family. He is preceded in death by his brother, Earl Carr Jr. and sister, Brenda Carr. Terry is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Hattie; 3 children, Bonita (Troy) Carr of Alexandria, VA; Carman (Chris “son”) Ward of Chattanooga, TN; Saundra Carr of Decatur, GA; 6 grandchildren, Ashley, Briaunna, Daphne, Kristen, Lehra, MiShannon. 14 great-grandchildren; 4 godchildren, Pamela Bows, Joseph Gooden, Jean-Clare Hale, Savannah “my little princess” Hale; two brothers, Morris Carr of Chattanooga, TN; Tillman (Karen) Carr of Cheney, WA; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 12-8 p.m. at the Gwinnett Chapel of Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, 914 Scenic Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30045, (770) 338-5558. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Senior Pastor Marion Sailor as the eulogist. Interment will take place in Georgia National Cemetery. Arrangements announced by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
