Sylvia Jean Green's Obituary
Sylvia Jean Green, 75, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at her residence. She was born December 15, 1946, in Newport News, Virginia. She was educated in the Newport News Public Schools and went on to attend the University of Richmond where she obtained her Associate degree in Nursing. She was employed by several hospitals including Riverside, Norfolk General and Hampton General. Sylvia also taught CNA classes at Tidewater Tech in the late 70s. At an early age, she accepted Jesus as her personal savior and united with New Grafton Baptist Church. When she moved to Chattanooga, she became and remained a faithful member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Stella Tillery; sister, Linda Bray; and niece, Lawanda Rhoades. Survivors include her children, Christopher Olan (Melissa) Crocker of Arlington, TX and Rosalyn Louise (Carrie) Crocker of Chattanooga; three grandchildren; brother, Herman Tillery; aunt, Purnell Johnson, both of Newport News, VA; nephews, Jonathan Brayboy of Newport News and Kevin Brayboy of Powder Springs, GA; niece, Toii McNair of Newport News; special cousins, Alma Brown, Jacklyn Jennings, and Brenda Reed; caregiver, Juanita Bush; several other relatives and friends. Pastor Roland Hatten is officiating and Minister Christopher Crocker will be the eulogist.
