Steve Talley's Obituary
Steve Talley, 71, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in Chattanooga. He was born March 27, 1954, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated from Howard High School Class of 1972. He was a member of Hamlett Chapel C.M.E. Church. Steve retired from Archer-Daniels-Midland/ Southern Cellulose, with over 25 years of service.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice Bell Hughes and Curtis Hicks; stepfather, Henry Hughes; grandparents, W.S. Bell and Marie Bell; brothers, Jerry Lee Bell, Julius Talley, Sammie Lee Talley, Alvin Talley, and Michael Talley.
He was a man of few words, very free hearted and he loved his music. Steve was a hard worker and anything you needed if he had it, you could get it. Steve leaves to cherish his loving memory is his son, Steve L. Talley; sister, Velma (James) McKamey; brother, Maurice (Janie) Hughes, all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Laquita Snow, Dominique Sattersfield, Copel Sattersfield, Johnathan Talley, Serenity Jones, Mikia Talley, Niya Ridley Talley, and Malik Moon; great-grandchildren, Dominique Hood, Niya and Noah Snow and Da’Niya Sattersfield; sister-in-law, Roberta Talley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and a dear family friend, LaVarn Rawlings.
He will lie-in-state on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the chapel with Pastor Henry McClain as the eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
