Sherman Ervin Matthews, Jr.'s Obituary
Sherman Ervin Matthews, Jr., 73, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in a local hospital. He was a 1966 graduate of Howard High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Kentucky State University in Sociology. He received his Masters’ Degree in Community Counseling from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Sherman was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He was a devoted member of Second Missionary Baptist Church. Sherman was preceded in death by his sister, Debra Matthews. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Matthews; daughters, Kimberly Cofield of Atlanta, GA and Erika (Ryan) McJimpsey of Spartanburg, SC; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Kevin Matthews; nephews, Matthew Mumen and La’Del Matthews, all of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
