Shaneka McDowell's Obituary
Shaneka McDowell, 51, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025. She was a 1992 graduate of Lookout Valley High School and received her B.S. degree from Bethel University. She was employed as a Correctional Counselor with the State of Tennessee. Shaneka was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Among those who preceded Shaneka in death include her father, Lance Boswell; grandmother, Flora Jones; and aunt, Waynell Smith.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Maurice McDowell; sons, Theoleous McClendon, PK McDowell, and Elijah McDowell; daughters, Tay Crowder, Staci McDowell, and Diamond McDowell-Poe, all of Chattanooga; 8 grandchildren; mother, Reva Boswell of Chattanooga; sisters, Falethia (Milton "Skelator") Gaines, Yaminah McCroskey, and Keosha Boswell; uncle, Waymond Jones; aunts, Serena Bledsoe, Willie McClendon, and Johnnie (Vernard) Owens, all of Chattanooga; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Shaneka will lie-in-state on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Dorothy Graves as the Eulogist.
