Sheila Denise Claggett's Obituary
Sheila Denise Bolden Claggett’s earthly journey began on December 26, 1966, welcomed by her proud parents, Emory and Mable Bolden. Being the youngest and the only girl, she was spoiled and lavished with love, not only by her parents, but also by her big brothers.
Sheila graduated from Brainerd High School in 1985. She attended Austin Peay University and University of TN at Chattanooga, earning a bachelor's degree in accounting. She provided accounting services for several medical facilities, including Physicians Care, and Scenic City Rheumatology.
Sheila’s education and work did not define her. She prided herself on being a loving mother to her sons, Nate and Calvin. They were her world until her grandson, Liam, came on the scene on August 22, 2025, sharing the same birthday as her older brother Willie. That’s when her love grew to a level that she never thought was possible.
If you ever met Sheila, you already know that she had a welcoming spirit. She was “Momma Sheila” to most of Nate and Calvin’s friends. It was not unusual for Sheila to wake up to 6 or 7 boys asleep on the floor in her home. They knew that Momma Sheila’s doors were always open to them.
Sheila loved her church. She raised her boys in New Monumental. There she served as Sunday School teacher, worked in the nursery, and was a member of Senior Fellowship. Even after being challenged with mobility, she continued to participate via Zoom and conference calls. She also loved calling the sick and shut-ins. Sheila could be counted on to help wherever she was needed.
Family functions were important to Sheila. She rarely missed a birthday party, game night or family dinner. She really enjoyed being around those she loved and who loved her. Ooooh, how she will be missed.
Family members who left this earth prior to Sheila are parents, Emory and Mable Bolden; and brother, Willie Bolden.
Those left to embrace her memory and sweet spirit are sons, Nathaniel Claggett (Cleveland, TN) and Calvin (Alyssa Sweeney) Claggett; her one and only grandchild, her heartbeat, Liam Claggett, all of Bristow, VA; brother, Stanley Bolden (Chattanooga, TN); Sister-in-love, Carol (David) Meredith (Chattanooga, TN); Nieces, Bianca (Michael), Briona, MiKaya & Miracle Steward (Birmingham, AL), Summer Crayton (Chattanooga, TN), DeAndra (Scott Horn) Bolden (Tampa, FL) and Adrianna Bolden (Orlando, FL); Nephews, Calvin (Rondra) Bolden (Orlando, FL), Michael Jr. and Bryant Steward (Birmingham, AL), Keylon, Keyonte’, Keydale, and Kayden Crayton, and Demetric Meredith all of Chattanooga, TN; devoted cousins Jeffery, Jessica, Jamesetta, and Phyllis Gray all of Chattanooga and Gloria Jackson (Decatur, AL), loving aunts Frances Hunt and Nancy Wallace (Hartselle, AL), along with other cousins, friends, and church family.
Sheila will lie-in-state on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Monumental Baptist Church located at 901 Woodmore Lane with Pastor Rev. Dr. R. Gregory Odom officiating and Elder David Meredith as Eulogist.
