Sharon Mathis Gray, 63, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, in a local hospital. Sharon attended Kirkman High School, class of 1978. She was known to many by “Ms. Sharon” and will be truly missed. She is preceded in death by her father, Tyrone Mathis; sister, Brenda Mathis Cuff; mother & father-in-law, John & Mary Gray; uncles, Dewitt Lee, Terry Lee, Charles Lee, Thomas Lee, Bobby Jones, and Terry Carey; aunts, Mary Hunnicutt, Dorothy Carter, Joyce Carey and Mary Ann Linder. Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Charlie Gray; children, Erick (Shaniqua) Mathis, LaToya (Jerome) Moore, Sherika (Lawrence) Sims all of Chattanooga, John (Pamela) Gray of Bowling Green, KY, Anthony Humphrey, Joe Humphrey, and Chuck Gray, Kathy Gray, Terrie Gray all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Adrian Hall, Jaela Moore, JaKaela Moore, JaNiyah Moore, Maranda Houston, Regina Mapp, Reginald Mapp, Alexxus Sturkey, and Joseph Sturkey; 5 great-grandchildren; mother, Sophia Mathis; siblings, Marie Marbury, Edward (Brenda) Mathis, Margaret (Steve) Rogers, Angela (Anthony) Meadows, Glenda Mathis, Vanessa (Perry) Beavers of Kingston, GA, and Tyrone (Rachel) Mathis; aunt, Barbara Jean Crumsey; uncle, Henry (Reba) Lee; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She will lie-in-state on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel with Brother Andre Massengile as the eulogist. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery.
