Sekani McKevie's Obituary
Sekani Amir McKevie-Chubb, a true bundle of joy, was born on March 21, 2022, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Montez Chubb, Jr. and Janecia McKevie. Sekani’s first words were likely, “Mama,” or “Daddy,” but his second word was definitely, “juice.” He loved to drink juice and often asked for it. From a young age, Sekani enjoyed dancing; he would rock, move, and throw his hands in the air whenever his favorite songs were played. He also clapped his hands at church, sharing in the joy around him.
Sekani loved playing outside and going to the playground, where it was sometimes difficult to bring him back inside because he was having so much fun. His favorite character was Spiderman, whom he eagerly watched on TV every day.
Sekani brought love and joy to everyone he encountered. His infectious smile could light up any room, and that smile will surely be missed. We can take comfort knowing that he is smiling in Heaven now. Matthew 19:14 reminds us, “Let the children come to me.”
Sekani was preceded in death by his great-great-grandparents, Carolyn Rice, John Rice, and Annie Louise Moore; great-grandmother, Maeretta McKevie; uncle, Cartrovious Moore; aunts, Theodoshie Rice, Barbara Rice and Sherrilyn Moore.
Sekani gained his heavenly wings on August 28, 2025, in Chattanooga. Those left to cherish his memories include his father, Montez Chubb, Jr.; his mother, Janecia McKevie, both of Chattanooga; brother, Z’yier McKevie-Chubb; sister, Aveyonna Chubb; grandfathers, Montez Chubb, Sr., Jason McKevie, and Elder Marvin Roseberry; grandmothers, Rekeya Gaines and Aprol Lanier-Roseberry; great-grandparents, Sherry Rice, Cedric Chubb, Sr., and Sharon McDonald; uncles, Christian Roseberry, Ryezell Gaines, Jaylen Rice, and Martez Moorer; aunts, Precious Braswell, Marnaysha Roseberry, Maliyah Roseberry, Mariyah Roseberry, Tionna Rice, Teresa Fletcher, Shenee Jones, and Sherry Parker, all of Chattanooga; a host of uncles, aunts, and family.
Sekani will lie-in-state on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 12:00 noon with Pastor Clinton Waller as Eulogist. Burial in Higland Memorial Gardens.
