Sara Johnson's Obituary
Sara Marie McIntyre Johnson, was born September 2, 1932, to the late Arthur and Gladys McIntyre of Cohutta, Georgia. Sara quietly went to rest on June 9, 2025 with her family by her side at home. “Aunt Sara” or “Ms. Taylor” as many people would call her was a kind spiritual person. She was very open minded, playful and kept it real. Sara’s nieces and friends would sometimes call her Patti LaBelle because of the resemblance.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Herman Johnson for 15 plus years. She was a member of Miracle Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Nurses Guild for 10 years.
Sara was employed by Red Food Store, now known as Food City for many years. She worked with the Foster Grandparent Program through the City of Chattanooga, where she received many awards. Sara was very talented and was a people person. She worked as an Event Coordinator at the CDC of Chattanooga for many years where she later retired.
Sara was preceded in death by her mother and father, Arthur and Gladys McIntyre both of Cohutta, GA; sisters, Robbie Robinson-Preston of Chattanooga and Betty L. Baker of Cohutta, GA; brothers, Arthur C. McIntyre and Earl Lee McIntyre both of Chattanooga; oldest son, Tony Ray Taylor; grandson, Antonio Quantrell Taylor; and aunt, Frankie May Wright of Detroit, MI.
Sara leaves to cherish her loving memories with her daughter, Allison Reneé Taylor of Chattanooga; son, Gary (Lisa) Taylor of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Tamara Norwood, Tony Taylor, Veronica “Lady” Young; great-grandson, Antonio “Trell” Taylor, Jr.; 3 nieces, Linda Daniels, Glennis (Edward) Golson, and Gwendolyn Edward Mikes, all of Chattanooga; nephew, Micheal Robinson of Cohutta, GA; a very dear friend for many years, Ms. Jewell King; a host of many relatives and friends afar in, Cohutta and Dalton, GA, Colorado and California. Sara was a well-rounded queen and she will be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held for Sara on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home.
