Samuel L. “Lil’ Sammy” Smith, Jr., 48, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022. He was a 1992 graduate of Hixson High School. He was of the Baptist faith. Samuel was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra K. Smith; grandparents, Reverend Lee and Bessie Russell, Samuel and Betty J. Smith; aunts, Vonda Hood, Barbara Webb, Sheryle Gould, and Flora Parker. Survivors include his father, Samuel L. Smith, Sr. (Betty Anne); sisters, LaToya Benning and LaKonya Hampton; uncle, Renicher Russell; aunts, Glenda Lyons, Audrea Russell, Angela Russell, Karen Eaton, Amia Russell, and Melinda (Thomas) Knowles; niece, Goddess Benning; nephews, JaJuan Benning, Dedrick Owens, and Derrick Pickett; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends. Pastor Melvin Grimes is the eulogist.
