Samuel Pierce, Sr., 71, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 in a healthcare facility. He attended Riverside High School. He was a member of Mt Canaan Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Pierce, Jr.; daughter, Charita Armstrong; grandson, De’Sean Pierce; parents, Frank and Ophelia Pierce; five brothers; three sisters. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Gloria Pierce; son, Carl Pierce of Mesa, AZ; daughter, Colletta Elder of Hopkinsville, KY; daughter-in-law, LaShun Pierce; grandchildren, Robert Elder, Michael Dates, Darrell Jones, Latoya Kelley, Samuel Pierce, III, and Lebron Pierce; great-grandchildren, Miracle Franklin, Javon Kelley, Jr., Mondale Dates, and Michael Dates, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Barbara Pierce, Angela Pierce, Virginia Pierce, Sabrina Anderson, Lillie Ann Morris, Zora Young, and Lula Norris; brothers-in-law, Olin (Sodye) McCain and Robert Lee Morris; a host of nieces, nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. will serve as the eulogist.
