Ruth Todd's Obituary
Ruth Todd, 92, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023, in a hospice facility in Decatur, Georgia. She was born November 2, 1929, in Griffin, Georgia. Ruth was a member of New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia where she served faithfully on the Usher and Mother’s Board until her health declined. Before moving to Atlanta, Georgia, Ruth was employed as a Nurse’s Assistant at St. Barnabas Nursing Home and Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. While in Atlanta, she was employed at Dekalb General Medical Center.
Ruth was a God-fearing woman who was loving and feisty to all that knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her family, serving and worshipping God at her church, shopping, attending movies, and traveling the world at her kids’ expense. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Todd, Sr.; daughter, Betty Todd; granddaughter, Latasha Todd; parents, HW and Bernice Dixon; brother, JW Dixon; sisters, Annie Lee Moorer, Annie Pearl Wilson, and Katie Caudle; and a son-in-law, Jeral Tyler. Survivors include her six kids: Willie Ruth Benford of Buffalo, NY, Jeannie (Joe) Troope of Valdosta, GA, Willie (Sharon) Todd, Jr. of Chattanooga, Patricia Todd-Tyler of Conyers, GA, Michael (Litonya) Todd, Sr. of Stockbridge, GA, and Debra (Shedric) Carthern of Peachtree City, GA; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Dixon of Chattanooga; grandkids include, Terrance Troope of Duluth, GA, Angie Troope of Tucker GA, Steve Todd of Chattanooga, Jermaine Kelley of Norfolk, VA, Jazmine Kelley of Houston, TX, Kristie Boyd of Sandy Springs, GA, Quincy Puryear of Conyers, GA, Michael Todd, Jr. of McDonough, GA, Edoni Todd of Houston TX, Shedric Carthern, Jr. of Newnan, GA, Isaiah Carthern of McDonough, GA, and Bianca Carthern of Macon, GA; and an abundance of great-grands; nieces; nephews; and more that were dear to her heart. Pastor Shedric Carthern will be the eulogist.
