Rufus Hicks, Sr.'s Obituary
Rufus Hicks, Sr., 83, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at his residence. He was born February 5, 1942 in Newnan, Georgia. He was employed by U.S. Pipe and retired after many years of service.
Rufus was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Hicks; aunts, Lula Wright and Doris Little; uncles, Clinton Wright and Fletcher Little.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Barbara Hicks; sons, Dr. Corey Hicks of Conyers, GA and Rufus Hicks, Jr. of Snellville, GA; daughters, Sheral Ware of Montgomery, AL and Sharon McReynolds of Chattanooga; 8 grandchildren, Torey Hicks, Sr., Simone Hicks, Connor Hicks, Corel Hicks, Britteny McReynolds, Taliyah Douglas, Terek McReynolds, and Kayla Ware; 6 great-grandchildren, Torey Hicks, Jr., Emery Hicks, Jade Hicks, Alasia Hicks, Khaleah Sanford, Kamari Ragland, and Alex LeFew; sister, Janice Little of Chattanooga; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; extended family, Hedi Hicks, Brandi Benson Hicks, Kenneth Ware, Michael Stevenson, Aaron Douglas, Carla Hicks, Blanche Walker, Timothy Wright, Tiffany Huffaker, KC Dixon, Anthony Dixon, Wanda Dixon, and Elizabeth Hicks; and many friends.
Rufus will lie-in-state on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 12 noon in the Chapel with Dr. Corey Hicks as the Eulogist. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens.
