Ruby Pearl Harris' Obituary
Ruby Pearl Harris, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 21, 2023, in a local hospital. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who loved everyone. Ruby grew up in Alabama and moved to the Chattanooga area in her teens where she graduated from Hill High School in Lafayette, Georgia. She also attended Edmondson Junior College in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Ruby was beloved by many and left a lasting impression on everyone she met with her smile and her desire to share her faith with those she encountered. Ruby retired from Sears Shoe Store in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. She was a faithful member of Mount Canaan Baptist Church. Ruby was preceded in death by her mother, Robbie Mae Young; sisters, Mable Ruth Campbell and Alice Young; and brothers, John Young and William Young. Survivors include her husband, Carl W. Harris; daughter, Carlene (Marvin) Tucker; sons, Anthony (Teresa) Harris and Eric Harris; eight grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed for her kindness to everyone and her beautiful smile. Ruby will lie-in-state on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 9-12 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 11 a.m. in Highland Memorial Gardens.
