Roy Dunham, Jr.'s Obituary
Roy Lee Dunham, Jr., 71, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025, in a local hospital. He was born on September 11, 1953, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Roy graduated from Riverside High School in 1972 and embarked on a dedicated career, spending 28 years at Wheland Foundry before joining Pilgrim’s Pride, where he worked until his well-deserved retirement in 2022.
He found great joy in watching classic cowboy films and cherished every moment spent enjoying basketball and football. A devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Roy remained loyal to his team through every win and loss.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee Dunham, Sr. and Mattie Pearl Spratling; brother, Willie Dunham; sister, Sytaria Gaines; and aunt, Lula “Mae” Spratling Hunter.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 22 years, Debra Dunham, who shared a lifetime of cherished memories with him. He will be deeply missed by his three children, Cletus Dunham (daughter in-law, Sherita Dunham), Charity Dunham, and Cassandra Dunham-Townsend (son in-law, John Townsend); and 5 grandchildren, Yolanda Dunham, Daidrick Dunham, Rodrell Daniel, Jarell Daniel, and Ataejah Daniel; as well as his beloved great-grandchild, Ariyai Williams, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
May Roy Lee Dunham, Jr. rest in eternal peace, forever cherished in the hearts of all who loved him.
Roy will lie-in-state on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Highland Memorial Gardens, where Roy Dunham’s life will be lovingly honored.
