Rosalind Ludy's Obituary
Rosalind W. Ludy, 71, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in a healthcare facility in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on December 13, 1953, in Tennessee to Ruth and Rufus Williams, Sr. She graduated from Howard High School in 1971.
Rosalind was a devoted Bible scholar, a passionate Bible school teacher, and public speaker. She was a long-standing member of the Avondale Church of Christ, where she did charitable work at the Clothing Closet. She also served in the Army Reserves.
Known as a fashionista, Rosalind loved showing up decked out in the most unique dresses and suits with matching hats included. She was also known for her quick wit and sense of humor, always making everyone around her smile. Rosalind cherished the time spent with her family and her many beloved grandchildren, both biological and non-biological. Her intelligence and love for learning inspired those around her.
Rosalind was preceded in death by her father, Rufus Andrew Williams, Sr.; mother, Ruth Henrietta Williams; and brother, Thomas Raleigh Williams, Sr.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur H. Ludy; son, Marcus (Sandra) Rivers, Sr. of Cleveland, TN; daughters, Megan (Tracey) Appleberry of Chattanooga and Maria Aboubaker of Nashville, TN; 3 grandchildren, Marcus Rivers, Jr. of Nashville, Sean Andrew Rivers of Chattanooga, and Harrington Lee Daniels of Nashville; brothers, Cyrus (Sharon Williams of Elkridge, MD, Rufus (Brenda) Williams, Homer (Linda) Williams, and Cedric (Darlene) Williams, all of Chattanooga; sister, Crystal Mines of Chattanooga; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Rosalind will lie-in-state on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in the chapel with Brother Eric Garner as the Eulogist. Burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
