Rodery Dwight Swafford's Obituary
Rodery Dwight “Cool” Swafford, 62, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in a local hospital. He was a 1980 graduate of Brainerd High School and attended Chattanooga State Technical College. Rodery was employed by Siskin Steele for 20+ years. He was a member of New Horizon Baptist Church. Rodery was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Melissa Swafford, Grady and Rosie Lee Burton Yearby; father, Franklin Swafford; sisters, Latricia Swafford and Angela Thomas. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, LáSonya Swafford; sons, Adairius Espy of Chattanooga and Antione Espy of Memphis, TN; daughters, Erika Espy of Chattanooga and Jessica Espy of Memphis; 10 grandchildren; mother, Lily Swafford of Chattanooga; brothers, Franklin Swafford of Chattanooga, Henry Kellogg of Alabama, and James Vance; sisters, Venesia Swafford of Alabama, Delicia Ellis of Chattanooga, Traci Vance, and Rebecca Dossett; uncle, Charles Covington; aunt, Vera Covington, both of Chattanooga; nieces, Tomara Davis of Chattanooga, Davionne Newsome of Alabama, Resha Jackson, Monique Scott, Jacqui Pitmon, and Somaya Pierce, all of Chattanooga; nephews, Isaiah Rashad of California, Samuel Vance, and Timothy Vance, both of Chattanooga; a host of great-nieces; great-nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Rodery will lie-in-state on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 10 a.m. at New Horizon Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Willie Paul as the eulogist. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
