Roderick Alexander's Obituary
Roderick “Ricky” Alexander, 65, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, in the Arkansas Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Son, Brother, Bloodline to so many.... Friend to all who knew him.. curiosity struck those who didn't.....The midnight hour is here and it's taking forever to just sit down and reflect upon it all...still waiting to see your smile and that "twinkle" in your eyes walking thru the door ...Yes the battle was short...rocky but full of courage ..you laughed at the pain but said you were grateful that you could feel it...You didn't give up...Some of life's greatest victories end that way...you crossed over. Brother... no doubt about it...we knew you would. First born to Catherine and the late Ralls Alexander...yes,...it's been hard on Mom.....Over and over she kept saying, "but Ricky was a good child".... something special about the 1st born...October 6, 2023, Glory showed up and covered you.. we felt the peace upon you...so grateful you were not alone,.. sisters/nephew by your side. ..as you always stood up for us, your sisters held hands and walked behind you as far as we could go... even when the Unseen took over ...we had your back...we still do...No sorrows needed for your "lost"....we know where you are....greeted by the ancient ones who knew you were on your way......Your siblings: Gregory, Vincent, Katrina, Brigitte and Dee Dee, will always see you as our big brother...our Bro Luv...Those who were dear to his heart, they already know.... Keeping up with your Aunties: Mary A. Whitten, Valencia Dozier-Allen, Jacqueline Hall ... putting a smile on their faces.... they're gonna’ miss you Brother....Always bragging and laughing about graduating from "Howard"!.. Class of 1975... proud member of the Historic Howard High Marching 100 Band (1972-1975)...Trumpet.... Armed Forces Day Parade..Market St...home Games..stepping..nothing but the dust in the field..if we couldn't see ya, we could hear you... Fat...she was always close by......US Army Veteran... you always spoke about how you enjoyed going to your appointments at the VA... spending time, sipping coffee... sharing stories with other veterans. You were a part of a special brotherhood (Paul Schreane) Thank you both for your service. This tribute can easily turn into an autobiography as those who knew you understood how special you are. You lived your life with no regrets and we will always love you for that. Rest easy Brother, the book is finished. Almighty God, we thank you for blessing us with such a gentle soul and a smile that lingers on. We thank you for it all and through it all. We won't complain. Love Always and Forever, Family. Military Service will be Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
