Robert Wisener's Obituary
Robert Wisener, 86, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022, in a local hospital. He was born November 4, 1935, in Columbia, Tennessee to Anderson Wisener and Susie Johnson. He attended Carver Smith High School and Columbia State Community College. Robert began his career with DuPont where he worked for over 20 years before retirement. While in Columbia, he was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. While there he served as a Deacon and helped in many areas of ministry. After transferring to WV, he was an active member and Deacon at Zion Baptist Church. After retirement, he moved to Chattanooga and joined New United Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a devoted Deacon and Usher. Robert faithfully served the Lord and always had a heart to help others. He enjoyed bowling, watching basketball, walking with friends, working out at the YMCA and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Mattie L. Wisener; brothers, John Johnson, and Bill Porter; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Shaw, Betty King, and Sandra Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Wisener; children, Vivian Timmons, Sylvia (Kevin) Gordon, Andre (Tonya) Wisener, all of Columbia, TN, and Steve (Naeema) Barnett of Honolulu, HI; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and close friends. A special “thank you” to J.C. Harris and James Grayson for their love and concern for Robert. Dr. Jeffrey Wilson is the eulogist.
