Robert J. Moorer's Obituary
Robert James Moorer, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, in a local hospital. He was born on July 21, 1944, in Farmersville, Alabama to James “Cracker” and Annie Clyde Moorer. Robert graduated in 1964 from Snow Hill Institute in Snow Hill Alabama. He retired from Roadway Trucking Company after 38 years of service. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, James “Cracker” and Annie Clyde Moorer; brothers, Solomon Moorer and Howard Moorer; sisters, Lee Ethel Moorer, Lee Anna Moorer, Lee Rosa Hollman, and Betty Lou Brown; grandchildren, Patrick Green and Delandis Richardson. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Moorer; sons, Shun (Patrice) Moorer of Nashville, TN, Marcus Moorer, Kenneth Jones, Michael (LaFonda) Jones, and Calvin Sparks, all of Chattanooga; daughters, Jacqueline Richardson of Tampa, FL, Yovonne (David) Powell, and Patti Jones, both of Chattanooga; brothers, Joe Nathan (Teresa) Moorer of Chattanooga, Robert Earl (Maggie) Moorer of Oak Hill, AL; 33 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; special friends, Tommie Moorer and Willie Crum; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends. Robert will lie-in-state on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Brother Jimmie Ingram as the eulogist. Burial in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
