Robert Jones' Obituary
Robert Earl Jones entered this earthly life on May 1, 1950, in Courtland, Alabama, to the late Sam Jones, Sr. and Earline Jones. He peacefully entered into rest on April 27, 2026, at his residence in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Robert received his education at Central High School in Courtland, Alabama. He later relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he built a dedicated career spanning over 40 years as a foundry worker with U.S. Pipe, remaining there until his retirement.
Robert will be fondly remembered for his deep love for family and his passion for cars and home improvement projects. He found joy in spending time with loved ones and took great pleasure in watching sports and classic western shows.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Jones, Sr. and Earline Jones; and his siblings: Percy Jones, Johnny Jones, Sam Jones, Jr., Kattie Mae Barbee, Cleveland Jones, Oscar Jones, Jessie Pearl Fletcher, and Willie Jones.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory and carry forward his legacy: his longtime and devoted companion, Gwen Finley; his daughter, Fransetta Finley of Chattanooga, Tennessee; his sons, Trory "Troy" (Carla) Finley and Linell Finley, both of Atlanta, Georgia; several loving grandchildren; two sisters, Alice (Mike) Graves of Columbia, Kentucky, and Annie (Milton) White of Florence, Alabama; along with a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Robert will lie-in-state on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. There will be no service.
